If you are ordering extension spring cables, it is recommended to install/replace the safetey cables at the same time. Safety cables are designed to secure the extension spring in a safe position once it breaks. Extension springs without safety cables are dangerous and extreme caution is necessary.
Replacing garage door cables require the tension on the counterbalance spring system to be released. Extreme caution is required.

Eexcellent with qualifications (below in review)
Excellent cables; new; arrived in 3 days via US priority mail.
Did not come with 'stops' as pictured in the product descriptions, necessitating an unexpected trip to the hardware store (not a big deal). I ordered "2" in the quantity field, not realizing they mean, '1' PAIR, as pictured. It would be good to clarify this. So now I've got an extra pair of cables which will likely be useful for something else in the future. Door is now functioning (better than ever), so no complaints.
Will order from this source again.
