      Our door began stopping every 8 or 10 inches in either direction. A few Google searches led me to this part which fixed it. Less than $20 for the part and shipping.

      Legacy 850 dead two solid purple lights.

      Legacy 850 only moved a few inches either way, then got two solid purple lights. TThis encoder fixed the problem and was very easy to swap in.

      After over a year in a new home our garage door unit broke. The garage door company contracted for the builder wanted to charge $500+ to replace everything after a 10 minute assessment. With the limited one year warranty passed we had to rely on calling the manufacturer. They helped trouble shoot the problem and I ended up finding the optical encoder from this website that also had a great walkthru tutorial video (was tired of waiting an hour on hold with Genie again). The part took 10 minutes max to install. I am one happy consumer not broken by the bank!
