This part fixed the odyssey 1000 opener I was working on. The folks at Rutland VT. Overhead Door were helpful and answered all my questions.

The circuit board on our Odyssey 1000 GDO failed, probably due to a power surge. I installed a new board and the door excursion was minimal. I was told I needed a new optical encoder. I installed it and it's working fine now. It looks like the new board and encoder are made for each other, so it would have been nice to have gotten both at the same time.

The part fits older and newer models. Installed easily and works great.

I installed it myself without a hitch. Contrary to the instructions, I did not unplug all the wires that connect to the printed circuit board. That's not necessary. I only unplugged the one to the encoder itself. Of course, I did have to undo the wires at the terminal block on the side that go to the wall button and the optical sensors to get the housing off.
